Looks like the US is going through the same problem we're facing in the  
UK. First the government proposed (pointless) ID cards; then they proposed  
shared electronic health records - passed around all places in the NHS  
(most medical professionals in the country); then they piloted it without  
giving the victims, sorry, patients a chance to opt-out; then they back  
pedaled; now they're pushing (pointless) ID cards again...

Of course the British people are being ambivalent about the issue...  
typical really...
