Tinfoil hat time - what if those websites in the US were actually fronts for
CIA covert ops designed to feed misinformation and bad ideas to cells, so
they'd screw up spectacularly and get caught before they did something
*dangerous*?

Of course, that would require a level of competence we rarely see out of the
higher-ups in DC, so it would have to be a rogue branch office sponsoring it.
